I have a 10.5 yr old student with recent cognitive impairment diagnosis who is functional with dressing, high working memory and social skills.
FSIQ is 70. He is about to fail a grade for the second time. He will now receive special education services to help close his gaps.
In speech he had a couple SS6 subtest scores. Most SS were 5 and below on language subtests.
Should he receive some consultative therapy to give programs/exercises to help close the gap in language skills?Vocabulary, grammar story comprehension, word relations and sentence formulation are weaker areas.
Recalling sentences, follow directions with concepts were his best subtests. He will be receiving special ed services now. He has some behavior issues.
I have set 2x/month to feed targeted exercises into special ed and regular ed to improve language skills for "curriculum access" if you will. He has ADHD as well.
