Lisp Help

Hi. I am a 21 year old male, for the past 4.5 years I have had a lisp.

It began when I had my 1st premolar tooth extracted when I use words with an "S" in them my tongue expands into the gap where the tooth was taken out and it makes the tongue tip off center so only part of the airstream comes out.

Do you think getting the tooth replaced will correct this problem?

Any help greatly appreciated.

It may take some time to get used to having the tooth there, but yes I think it could help.

I wore a retainer for many years (after braces) and if affected my "SH" and "CH" sounds.

After the orthodontist told me I didn't have to wear it anymore it was a little strange but over time my "SH" and "CH" returned to normal.

I hope that helps.

Sincerely,

Luke
