Easier Time Writing Than Speaking

by Kristen
(Arkansas)

Hello,

I've noticed in the past few years that I am struggling with coming up with words and using proper grammar while speaking.

However, when I write, words and grammar come easily to me. I have always excelled in language, and I scored a 34 on the English component of the ACT.

I don't understand why I am having such a hard time speaking now?

I was a great speaker as a kid, but it's like my speaking skills are moving in reverse. It doesn't seem to matter if it is public speaking or casual conversation with friends and family.

I'm not sure if this is even a legitimate problem seen in the speech pathology realm, but I thought I'd ask.

I am a young adult.

See your doctor and mention this to him/her and he may recommend you to be evaluated by the appropriate professional if your speaking skills are deteriorating.
