Does my 11 year old have a speech problem

My Son is 11 and is a normal kid. No Health issues. But he is quiet and does not talk fluently.
He pauses while talking. Leaves a 3-4 seconds gap in between words. Sometimes within the same word.
He does very well in academics and have no complaints from teachers but I sometimes feel that he is not talking as much as he should. How do I know if he is okay or if there is some problem ?
