6 year old mumbles when speaking to parents

Why does my 6 year old girl speak perfectly in public but mumble when talking casually to parents and other family members. She tends to speak too rapidly and blend her words (no pause between words). I often have to ask her to repeat herself several times. I’ll ask her to slow down, look at me, and speak more clearly. It appears difficult for her.
