Pragmatic Language Observation Scale (PLOS)

The Pragmatic Language Observation Scale (PLOS) is a standardized rating scale based on pragmatic language behaviors readily seen in instructional settings. Unlike most standardized measures where 85-115 are considered within the average range, PLOS scores between 90-110 are considered average. Teachers and/or other knowledgeable professionals rate the items on a 5-point Likert-type scale (1 and 2 below average, 3 average, 4 and 5 above average) based on the rater’s impression of the student relative to the item descriptor.
